Looking for an Adventure in Maui? The “Valley Isle” offers so much more than beach resorts. From fun to relaxation, it’s entirely up to you on your next Maui vacation. Maui has spectacular hikes, sea turtles and spinner dolphins, and lots of fun adventures worth exploring in Maui.

Molokini Snorkeling

Snorkeling is popular all over Maui, but the Molokini Crater is out of this world. Most Molokini Crater snorkel tours depart from Maalaea Harbor and you may even see dolphins or whales while in season. There are multiple diving spots in Molokini Crater and on it’s backside, including ancient lava flows and underwater grottos.

Hoapili Trail

Located on South Maui, the Hoapili Trail is a historic trail that was once a highway reserved exclusively for Hawaiian royalty. The 5.5-mile hike leads to Kanaio Beach, which is often totally empty. You can also see the Cape Hanamanioa lighthouse and ruins from ancient fishing villages. A shorter portion of the hike is also available.

Whale Watching

See humpback whales as they migrate down from Alaska. Maui’s whale watching season is roughly between Dec 15th – Apr 15th, and cruises offer a way to look for and learn about these magnificent creatures. There’s nothing like the thrill of seeing Maui’s humpback whales as they spout along the Maui coastline!

Hana Lava Tube

Lava tubes are formed when lava flows into the ocean cool on the outside, resulting in long, cylindrical “tubes.” And you can explore the Ka’eleku Cave for yourself. It’s a cool, dark change of pace from the rest of Hana. You can explore about 1/3 mile of unusual underground formations. Highlights include lava formations, contraction cracks, stalagmites and stalactites, puzzle pieces, and overflows. Road to Hana tours are available with IMI Tours.

Maui Horseback Riding

Besides lush forests and beaches, Maui also offers rolling fields and ranches. Paniolos, or Hawaiian cowboys, is sometimes an overlooked part of Hawaiian culture. There are several riding stables and working ranches that have been working on Maui for generations. Rides are filled with plenty of fun facts and history, and designed for beginner and expert riders alike.
