Head to Ala Moana Beach to witness one of Hawaii’s most breathtaking events of the year. The Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii launches 6000 floating lanterns into the Pacific in remembrance of our loved ones. If you’re going to Ala Moana Beach, reserve festival and beach transportation today.

Lantern Floating Hawaii honors lost loved ones, while spreading hope for the future. Memorial Day has celebrated in Hawaii with the Buddhist tradition of the floating of lanterns since 1999. The lanterns represent the wishes for the peace and happiness of loved ones past, and for courage to those in the present. It’s truly remarkable to watch thousands red Japanese lanterns floating into the sunset. Lantern Floating Hawaii also features Taiko performance, hula, and a traditional ceremony.

More than 40,000 folks turn out for an all day celebration on May 27th at Ala Moana Beach Park. Lantern Floating Hawaii is free to the public and the ceremony starts at 6 PM.

Ala Moana Beach Park is a public beach on Oahu located between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. It’s recommended to arrive at Ala Moana Beach extra early and use public transportation or a car service like those at SpeediShuttle. Avoid traffic or parking issues with car or shuttle service in Oahu.

Reserve transportation to the Floating Lantern Ceremony today.
